No time to revise.
No final practice with your coach.
The clock at the end of the hall
continues to remind
that the time you have left is small.
It’s just you and the other speechies.
It’s just you and the wall.
Fix your hair.
Look prepared.
Take out your 3-paged script
so neatly taped to black paper.
Your mouth is dry…
One more drink of water
and you’ll be fine.
Fears and doubts
run through your mind.
That judge walking past
doesn’t look so kind.
You fake a smile.
To yourself you say,
I hope everything goes okay.
No time to rewrite your intro.
No changing your mind.
All you hear is the sound
of the clock ticking away…
The time that you have left is small.
It’s just you and these crazy speechies.
It’s just you and the wall!
Or is it?
Things look different.
Time slows.
God is there with you.
You know.
It’s not just you and the other speechies.
It’s not just you and the wall.
Walls don’t listen.
This love I’ve learned of, it’s incredible. Do you realize that someone died for you?! Someone suffered and died for you. Jesus, who has never sinned, died for a world of terrible sinners. Why? Because he loves us! He loves you, and he loves me.
So, what do we do with this love of Jesus? Share it. Let the world know who your master is. Tell your friends, your family, your teachers, and your neighbors, about the new life they can have through Jesus. Not only tell them, but show them how your life has changed. If you go around swearing, and gossiping about people behind their backs, you’re giving unbelievers the wrong idea. When you go about your busy day, think, What Would Jesus Do?
Are you proud to be an American? Of course you are! We live in one of the greatest nations, and in a free country too! So then…are you proud to be a Christian? Don’t be ashamed of your love for Jesus.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)
14“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
I walk
I walk
Into the wall of clouds.
The moon is bright,
but the stars are out of sight.
I walk
and walk
I hear not a sound.
The air is crisp
and it stings my chapped lips.
I walk,
I slowly walk
And try not to slip on the icy ground.
Nobody here,
but I’ve no reason to fear.
I walk
I walk
with hope I’ve found.
The dark clouds ahead may look scary
but with God by my side I won’t grow wary.
(I wrote this after walking to work last night. The clouds looked really cool.)
one of my favorite Owl City songs :)
Lord, I need help
controlling my tongue.
It’s so hard to return to the language
of the innocently young.
For how can I even think of
telling others of their wrongs
when just as soon, I
join in with their evil songs.
People can’t see
the change God’s brought in me
If the words escaping my mouth
continue to deceive.
the icicles hang low,
waiting for the
Big Yellow’s rays
to save them.
-returning to water once more
their home; on the ground floor.
but did they forget?
winter’s not over
just quite yet!

For Christmas, Jennifer gave me The Buck Book that has “All sorts of things to do with a dollar bill-besides spend it.” It came with an instant $1 rebate ;) . I made a really cool jumping frog, and on the way home, we stopped at a gas station. I bought some dill pickle chips(yum!) and paid with my origami frog. It was so freaking hilarious. I’m still laughing about it. Haha. The cashier had to unfold it to put it in the register. He said something like, “I’ve never had anyone pay with an origami frog before.” I picked up my chips and said, “Merry Christmas!”
I wrote this when I was like 8 or 9… I think. I wrote a lot of poems in elementary school. Haha.
Christmas Lights
Shining bright are Christmas lights,
in the night.
They’re in the sky, they’re on your tree,
they’re in your neighborhood you see.
So don’t you fright, because Christmas is near,
and I hope the Holidays bring you good cheer. :)
